PHYSICAL DAMAGE: Protects your tractor, trailer or truck from damages caused by Collision and other perils:
- Collision: Provides coverage for covered vehicle’s collision with another object or its overturn.
- Comprehensive: Provides coverage for losses that are not caused by Collision and that are not specifically excluded in the policy. Some carriers provide a specified peril policy that provides slightly less coverage than the Comprehensive form often at a cheaper price.
NON-TRUCKING LIABILITY: This coverage protects you from third party liability that occurs from use of your vehicle that is not business related.
BOBTAIL: Covers you from third party liability that occurs from use of your vehicle when no trailer is attached.
UNLADEN: Covers you from third party liability that occurs from use of your vehicle while you are towing an empty trailer
MOTOR TRUCK CARGO: Covers property in the course of transit you haul under bill of lading as a common carrier.
OCCUPATIONAL ACCIDENT: Provides 1st party coverage for those independent contractors exempt from Workers’ Compensation typically for three main coverages: Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Accident Medical Expense, and Accident Disability. There are other additional coverages that vary by market.
CONTINGENT LIABILITY: Provides defense and indemnity for a motor carrier arising from a covered independent Contractor claiming employee status to gain access to Workers’ Compensation.
WORKERS’ COMPENSATION: Insurance that provides benefits such as medical, death and disability for employees or those deemed to be employees that are injured or that become ill as a result of their job.
PASSENGER ACCIDENT: Provides Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Accident Medical Expense for private passengers in the truck such as spouses, children or friends.
FREIGHT BROKER BONDS: As of 10/1/13 all freight brokers are required to carry a BMC-84 Bond in the amount of $75,000. This is an increase from $10,000.
